The Lucky Losers

The Lucky Losers

Tickets - $10 at the door

San Francisco's no. 1 touring band & winners of 6 Independent Blues Awards (including Artist & Song of the year in 2021).  Finalist International Songwriting Competition 2020 & 2018.

Described as “the finest light-skinned female blues vocalist in the U.S” [Real Blues - 2010], fiery Dallas-born entertainer Cathy Lemons has a velvet voice with a gritty edge and the rebel conviction of a woman risen from the ashes. New Jersey native Phil Berkowitz "has earned renown as one of the West Coast’s most distinctive harp players, as well as for his sharp, resonant tenor" [Living Blues - 2018]. The stark contrast between incandescent Lemons and elegant Berkowitz makes for a captivating musical union, breathing new life into American songwriting tradition and the vanishing art of duet vocals.

Since 2015, The Lucky Losers have completed numerous national tours, performing on stages in over 42 states. Their artistic achievements have garnered 15 award nominations.

QUOTE:
“The Lucky Losers prove to be one of the fast rising and best duo ensembles on the national scene...Godless Land proves their artistic arrival."

— Blues Music Magazine, October 2020

San Francisco's finest male/female duet fronted band.
An inventive, hypnotic spin on Blues, classic R&B, with a twist of Americana.

Termed, ‘a prominent guitarist,’ by the New York Times and praised by The Washington Post for his ‘astonishingly florid’ improvisations, David Rogers presents an evening of Spanish music, Up-Tempo Latin, The Beatles, flashy settings of Pop Songs, as well as music by J.S. Bach and original compositions. He also tells many stories and jokes about the music.

REVIEWS
“...Playing the vihuela (a guitar relative), David Rogers held everything together with a few poignant plucks, vigorous strumming and the occasional astonishingly florid solo...”
The Washington Post

“...Music to listen to, be amazed by, and to dream upon.”
Akustik Gitarre 6/07

“...first rate instrumental artistry...”
ClassicToday.com

"...David Rogers played his vihuela (a 16th-century precursor to the guitar) not in the tasteful, restrained way of early music groups, but like a lead guitarist in a rock band. He laced the likes of 'De el pobo' with improvised, speedy solos way up into the wailing region of the fingerboard..."
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

"A modern master of the classical guitar... David Rogers has a remarkable grasp of 16th Century Baroque guitar music

Tyler John Kaerhling with opener Angel Urrea

Tyler John Kaerhling with opener Angel Urrea

Hailing from the Northeastern states, Tyler John Kraehling has been traveling through the country with eyes open, taking stock of the lives of the people who inhabit it. Drenched in the tradition of American troubadours, he tells stories that speak to the novelties and banalities of what it means to walk this earth. Living everywhere from Los Angeles, New York City, Idaho, Vermont, Texas and most recently Montana, he boasts a claim that he is in a unique company of travelers who are qualified to tell the stories they do, with the universe of detail they do. His fingerpicking styles range from the folk staples of John Prine and Townes Van Zandt to the country-blues of legends Furry Lewis, Taj Mahal and Chris Smither. Armed with songs that will make you feel the full spectrum of emotion, and with clothes and guitars that are mostly second-hand; his songs are anything but.

Angel Urrea kicks things off at 6:00. You may have recently heard him with The Boneless Boys at the Rendezvous in the Park Battle of the Bands

Mark Winters

Mark Winters

I first picked up a guitar to play a song for my wife on our anniversary. That’s when I discovered the joy of connecting with people through music. My sound is rock with a positive vibe, and my biggest influences are John Mayer, Tom Petty, and Jason Mraz. My music starts from a place of poetry and creative inspiration, and  I use my “rocket-scientist brain” to find structures that help me explore that initial burst of inspiration and feeling – like writing haiku's, my favorite! My grandmother taught me to express myself through poetry and I'm thankful to her for setting me on this creative and expressive path. https://www.markwintersmusic.com

Press

“Positive influences from the people in his life and a love for guitar are his compass.” – Indie Spoonful

“Winters writes songs that are catchy and engaging that will brighten your day and lift your mood.”– Indie Band Guru

Mark Winters’ “Boundary Layer” will put you in the high frequency energy state to feel ultra confident to release your old boundaries - Americana Highway Magazine

And in keeping with his “rock with a positive vibe” outlook, the track “Strong” comes from his own favorite phrase, which is “Finish strong.” - Houston Press

Anniversary songs aren’t a frequent catalyst to spark a career change, but then again, not many songwriters have aerospace engineering and haiku poetry in their backgrounds as does Houston guitarist Mark Winters. - Waco Tribune

Join us for an evening of creative works and powerful performances as we amplify the voices of those behind bars and highlight the transformative power of prison education.

Shadow Work

SHADOW WORK is an indie, psych-rock trio. Their pastel, dreamy guitar textures, labyrinthic bass tapping riffs, and agitated jazz grooves create the framework for a tortured, soulful narrative.

Based out of Denver, their live shows emit an explosive passion for musical experimentation: Intricate time signatures intermingle with progressive compositions, flowing from haunting and delicate to fervent and powerful.

With a European tour, multiple US tours, many festivals, and avid press support, SHADOW WORK's momentum is hard to deny. To them, this is just the beginning.

Frogtown

Frogtown

Frogtown features a lively mix of jigs, reels, polkas, marches, and waltzes from across the globe.   We play a variety of music from Canada, Scotland, Ireland, France, Sweden, and Appalachian Old Time to ensure that there is something for everyone in the mix.  The group members are Janet Anders on flute and penny-whistle, Nancy Holmes bowing fiddle and violin, Cleve Yocom on concertina, Tim Cavileer on guitar and mandolin,  Bob Chenoweth on bodhran, bones, and assorted percussion, Tim Hatten squeezing the piano accordion, and Dave Vollmer plucking the upright bass.   The name Frogtown is a nod to an old Moscow neighborhood at the bottom of Morton street near Hogg Creek.  This part of town was known for a local resident's sawmill and the cacophony of frog calls that came from the creek.   Perhaps the music of Frogtown mimics the symphony of frog calls (ribbits, chirps, and hoots) and the sounds of nature that emanated from the area on a warm Summer's eve?  We suspect an occasional similarity - you decide!
